Greetings! *mac salute* I hope your perusal of the McMillan and Ballard annals has and will continue to make you feel like you are a part of an amazing community that begins at Whitworth but has no end. To be quite frank I don't know how long this should be so I will write however much I please and hope that it comes across as wisdom and not the crazed ramblings of an old, out of touch Mac Man. A little about myself so you know where I'm coming from: I was a 4-year Mac Man, RA of the 3rd floor, and proud Senator. Mac was my life at Whitworth and changed me forever. Before my freshman year I didn't realize how much I needed the community Mac provided me with. Friends to do stupid things with and brothers to stand beside when we needed each other. That is the most important thing you can gain here; a family. Believe it or not, and you can call me crazy if you like, I feel as though you (yes, YOU) are a member of my BMAC family. We don't know each other and we may never meet, but I deeply hope that we share a love for the same community that has made both of our lives better. Enjoy it. Cherish it. No, McMillan is not the end-all be-all, but it certainly has become a treasure trove of sweet memories and lifelong friends for me. I know it will be the same for you. And while, sadly, traditions may change, the heart of McMillan and Ballard remains the same. Surround yourself with good people, and you'll be smiling through whatever comes. I'm Brother Independence, you stay real McMillan Hall.
P.S. Should you ever feel the need to, I don't know, brand yourself forever with a smiley face on the right cheek of your tuchus... do it. Do it and you're cool. Everyone's doing it, c'mon peer pressure. I'll buy you candy. Okay now it's getting weird, sorry about that. Butt really (hehe) there's a lot of Mac tatted rears out there, the world needs more smiley cheeks.
P.P.S. It felt wrong to end on butt tattoos so here's my real last thought. Do things. Do lots of things. Do everything and make mistakes while you're at it. The experiences you have now are unique and special, don't waste your time hiding in your room waiting for something good to happen. Go! Jump in a river after eating peanut butter and goldfish burritos, make Gam-gam's hot banana water, frolf at 2am in the rain, crawl into the forgotten depths of your current home (yes, they exist), fight valiant snowball fights for dominion over the Loop, and spend time with those that God has put in BMAC with you. You won't regret it.
